Chrome Extension — Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Gemini Chat History Cleaner (the "Extension") handles information when you install and use it in your Google Chrome browser. We take your privacy seriously. This document is written in plain language so you always know exactly what is happening with any data related to your use of the Extension.
By installing or using Gemini Chat History Cleaner you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy. If you do not agree with any part of it, please uninstall the Extension.
Gemini Chat History Cleaner is a browser extension that adds a bulk-selection and bulk-deletion workflow on top of the Gemini web interface (gemini.google.com). The Extension does the following entirely inside your browser:
Gemini Chat History Cleaner does NOT: generate any content, store any data, make any network requests of its own, collect any analytics, or transmit any data to the developer or any third party.
Short answer: We collect nothing. Absolutely zero data is ever stored, sent to us, or sent to any server we operate.
The Extension stores nothing in chrome.storage.local, chrome.storage.sync, cookies, IndexedDB, or any other browser storage mechanism. All actions happen in real time within your active browser tab and are discarded the moment you navigate away or close the page.
To be explicitly clear, this Extension does NOT collect, store, transmit, or process any of the following:
No servers: The developer operates no backend servers, databases, analytics pipelines, or data collection infrastructure of any kind.
Required to inject the selection UI (checkboxes, toolbar, confirmation modal) into the Gemini web interface and to simulate clicks on the native Gemini delete controls. The content script runs exclusively on gemini.google.com and does not run on any other website.
No other permissions are requested. The Extension does not use: storage, tabs, cookies, history, bookmarks, webRequest, notifications, alarms, or any other Chrome API.
Gemini (operated by Google LLC) is an AI assistant web application. When you use this Extension on Gemini, you remain subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Please review them at google.com/policies/. The Extension does not control Google's data practices and is not responsible for how Google handles data you have already shared with Gemini.
Deleting a conversation through this Extension has the same effect as deleting it manually — the action is permanent and governed by Google's own data retention policies.
Gemini Chat History Cleaner is an independent, community-made productivity tool. "Google" and "Gemini" are trademarks of Google LLC. This Extension has no formal relationship, partnership, sponsorship, or affiliation with Google LLC. Use of these names is solely for descriptive, nominative fair-use purposes.
Because Gemini Chat History Cleaner stores no data whatsoever, there is nothing to access, export, or delete on our end. You retain complete control at all times. You can uninstall the Extension at any time via Chrome Settings → Extensions. No account is ever created.
Gemini Chat History Cleaner is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because the Extension collects no personal data from anyone, no special measures beyond those described in this policy are required.
Because Gemini Chat History Cleaner stores no data, there is no stored data to protect. The Extension consists purely of a content script and stylesheet injected into the Gemini page. No data is written to disk, no network connections are opened by the Extension, and no information outlasts your browser session.
The source code is available for review. The Extension consists of: manifest.json (permissions and metadata), content.js (the script injected into gemini.google.com), and styles.css (visual appearance). None of these files contain obfuscated code, tracking pixels, or hidden network requests.
This Extension does not scrape, harvest, or republish content. It does not circumvent any technical protection measures. It does not reproduce or redistribute copyrighted content. Use of "Google" and "Gemini" constitutes nominative fair use to accurately describe the service this tool works with.
For DMCA or IP concerns, contact us with: a description of the work you believe is infringed, specific identification of the material in question, your contact information, and a good-faith statement. We will respond promptly.
Because this Extension does not collect, store, or process any personal data on external servers, GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA do not impose direct obligations on this Extension. You remain the sole data controller of any data stored within your Google / Gemini account.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective Date" will be updated accordingly. Material changes will be noted in the Chrome Web Store changelog. Continued use of the Extension constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
